«The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management is the umbrella organisation linking PR Professional Associations worldwide.»

The Global Alliance builds on the cooperative efforts of PR Professional Bodies (who build on the cooperative efforts of PR Professionals) to tackle common problems with a global perspective. By partnering with national bodies to increase professionalism in Public Relations, this Alliance works to enhance the influence of the Public Relations industry among its constituents around the world.

Vision

“Leading the PR Profession Globally” is the motto of our association, as the Global Alliance intends not only to embrace the value of diversity within the PR profession but also focus on common principles within the profession.

“Generic principles with specific applications” has been presented as the philosophy for a Global approach to Public Relations. The Global Alliance agrees with this approach and intends keep cooperating with its members to bring more generic principles to the Public Relations profession while also helping the global PR community become aware of specific applications.

Mission

The mission of the Global Alliance is to enhance the Public Relations Profession and its Professionals around the world working mainly in the following areas:

Unify and Link
To unify the profession by linking together all the national public relations and communication management associations as well as regional, specialty and international associations.
Professional Standards
To provide a framework for the discussion and consensus based definition of professional standards and to share resources for the benefit of the professional community
Member Development
To leverage the work of associations and institutes for the benefit and growth of our member associations and institutes and their members.
Service to the Profession
To become the authoritative global voice on public relations matters and to work in the public interest for the benefit of the profession
 

Values

Cooperation and Teamwork
Working mostly by projects, the Global Alliance has a cooperative nature and its deliverables are made by outstanding association’s leaders and professionals who commit themselves to the profession engaging in teamwork.
Professionalism and Credibility
The Global Alliance seeks to increase the professionalism at several levels. By supporting its member associations, the GA commits to a better professionalism in serving the professional’s interests and by promoting standards and guidelines, it also gives a positive contribute to overall professionalism in the practice of PR and to its credibility.
Integrity
The Global Alliance is at the forefront of the representation of PR as a profession in which the importance of ethical behaviours is unquestionable. The development of a Global Protocol on Ethics for Public Relations and the requirement that all GA members ratify it demonstrates a powerful commitment with Integrity as a professional value and a offers a valuable resource to national associations.
Innovation and Change
The Global Alliance is committed to produce changes through innovation. The new on-line infra-structure for developing projects and services and for making our knowledge available is contributing to the development of a world-wide community which is shaping the future of our profession.
Openness and dialogue
Believing that a fundamental trait of the PR activity is to make organisations more able to dialogue and understand the environment in which they operate, the Global Alliance thrives to reach out to PR leaders as well as to leaders from other fields of professional practice to increase their awareness of PR and to engage in fruitful and positive relationships with them.

The mission of the Global Alliance is to enhance the Public Relations Profession and its Professionals around the world working mainly in the following areas:

The Global Alliance has adopted a new five year strategic planning, 2009-2014. The strategic priorities for the 5 year period include:

  • Creating value for member associations & practitioners;
  • Enhancing member engagement & participation;
  • Growing visibility & influence;
  • Securing the financial model.

 

The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management is a non-profit organisation registered in the United Kingdom.
