PRII Annual Conference 2014

Back to the Future: PR’s Pivotal Role in Leading the Way Forward

Our annual gathering of senior PR and communications professionals this year evaluates PR’s role in an increasingly fragmented communications landscape. It tackles the challenges facing the profession and explores ways and means to seize the big opportunities there for the taking.

The line-up to date includes:

  • Jackie Brock-Doyle OBE, former Director of Communications and Public Affairs, London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Group Chief Executive of the Good Relations Group
  • Sarah Pinch FCIPR, Founder, Pinch Point Communications
  • Brian Brennan, Managing Director, TransDev
  • Pauline McKiernan, Sustainability and Community Affairs Manager, Ulster Bank
  • Moira Horgan, Marketing Manager, Business in the Community
  • Cliff Taylor, Editor, Sunday Business Post
  • Bernardine Maloney, Corporate Communications Manager, ESB
  • Laura Slattery, Media & Marketing Correspondent, The Irish Times
  • Piaras Kelly, Associate Director, Edelman
  • Gráinne O'Rourke, Communications Manager, Irish Cancer Society
  • Rita Kirwan, Head of Brand Communications and Sponsorship, O2 Ireland
  • Neil O'Gorman, Communications Consultant
  • Gerard Howlin, Public Affairs Consultant and Political Commentator
  • Michael Dawson, Group CEO, One4all Group
  • DC Cahalane, Chief Marketing Officer, TRUSTEV

A mixture of plenary and panel discussions – coupled with good healthy debate – will ask questions such as: Why is PR not taken seriously in the boardroom? What do we need to do to change this to become trusted, professional advisers? And is the social media landscape doing all it can for PR? The role of corporate social responsibility in building brand reputation is also on the menu and we’ll have several case studies in crisis communications, including one from the ESB on its response to Storm Darwin.
