The 2012 World Public Relations Forum

September 28, 2012

2012 World Public Relations Forum

"Communication without borders", this is the theme of the upcoming World Public Relations Forum, which will be held on November 18-20, 2012 in Melbourne, Australia. The event will be hosted by the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA).

The World Public Relations Forum has been the Global Alliance biennial assembly of public relations and communication professionals and academics from around the world to examine major issues affecting the profession and affected by the profession.

"Our theme - Communication without borders - reflects the global nature of the World Public Relations Forum and of communication today", said Global Alliance Chair Dan Tisch. "Communication is transforming global society and the Forum is an opportunity to break down barriers, enhance intercultural understanding and consider how to enhance our profession's contributions to our organizations - and to our world".

1,200 of world's leading communicators are expected to come together for discussion, debate, direction-setting and decision-making about public relations and communication. Bringing together world leaders in communication, new methods, research and ideas in the field of professional communication will be presented and discussed.

It is also an opportunity to help build an international consensus on a new “mandate”, the Melbourne Mandate, on the value that PR and communication professionals bring to organizations and to society. The Global Alliance has been leading this global discussion for the past three months and the first draft statements on the three areas of focus - character, responsibility and listening - have already been posted on the Mandate blog.

A second draft will be created after October 15 for final comment before the World Public Relations Forum.

If you are interested, you can keep up-to-date with the program and the latest additions to the speakers line up on the WPRF website, the WPRF Facebook page and following the WPRF on Twitter.
