2014 World Public Relations Forum to focus on ‘communication with conscience’. Global Alliance and Dircom invite the world’s communicators to Madrid on September 21-23, 2014

June 24, 2013

MADRID, Spain and LUGANO, Switzerland, 24 June 2013 -- The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management and Dircom, the Spanish association of communication directors, announced today that the Eighth World Public Relations Forum will take place in Madrid on September 21-23, 2014, with a conference theme of ‘Communication with conscience.’

“The Global Alliance and Dircom aim for Madrid to host one of the largest global conferences in the history of public relations and communication management — and few themes are more relevant to modern society than ‘communication with conscience,’” said Daniel Tisch, Chair of the Global Alliance and co-chair of the WPRF 2014 committee. “At the Eighth World Public Relations Forum, we will continue a global dialogue on professional communication as a process rooted in character and values, in listening to stakeholders, and in a sense of ethics and responsibility to society.”

The conference builds on the success of the 2012 World Public Relations Forum in Melbourne, Australia, which attracted more than 800 delegates from 30 countries and unanimously adopted the Global Melbourne Mandate model for public relations and communication management. As in Melbourne, the Global Alliance will feature the Second WPRF Academic Colloquium in Madrid the day before the main conference. The Academic Colloquium will take place on Sunday September 21st, with the main Forum to follow on Monday September 22nd and Tuesday September 23rd.

“The Global Alliance is committed to bridging the global practitioner and academic communities once again, and to using the 2014 World Public Relations Forum to challenge our global community to advance its thinking on the contribution public relations can and should make to organisations and society,” said Anne Gregory, Chair-Elect of the Global Alliance, who takes office on July 1st. “We are proud to have Dircom as our partner, and in the value this Forum will have for our members, for our profession, and for professionals everywhere.”

“For public relations and communication managers, the World Public Relations Forum is an event not to be missed,” said José Manuel Velasco, President of Dircom, GA board member and co-chair of the WPRF 2014 committee. “In Madrid, we hope to bring the profession’s leading thinkers and speakers together to discuss the importance and value of communicating consciously — and conscientiously — in order to building strong organizations, reputations and brands. We would like to shake our profession to lead cultural change.”

Before Madrid, previous hosts of the World Public Relations Forum include Italy (twice), Brazil, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Australia.
