Professionals from every continent seek to advance ‘public relations in the public interest'

"There's never been a greater global need for public relations in the public interest - to help bring about economic recovery, political freedom, technological advancement and social justice," said Daniel Tisch following his election as the Global Alliance chair for a two-year term. "The Global Alliance can play an indispensible role by raising standards, sharing knowledge, strengthening public relations associations around the world, and being a global advocate for our profession."

Tisch expressed the board's deep thanks to outgoing chair John Paluzsek, whose achievements included an expansion of the Global Alliance's membership, new partnerships with global multilateral organizations, the acclaimed 2010 World Public Relations Forum and the passage of the Stockholm Accords.

The 2011 annual meeting was hosted in Lisbon on Monday by the Portuguese Association for Corporate Communication (APCE), which held a successful international forum on crisis and change communications the following day. The event included speakers from various Global Alliance member countries.
