Global Alliance endorses Stockholm Accords at World PR Forum

June 17, 2010

June 16, 2010, Lugano, Switzerland -- The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, the umbrella organization linking PR professional associations worldwide, today announced that delegates to the 2010 World Public Relations Forum have endorsed the Stockholm Accords, a bold call to action on the role of public relations in today's global networked society.

"The Stockholm Accords are not only a milestone in the development of the global public relations profession, but also a call to action for organizations everywhere to use public relations to strengthen their relationships and reputation - and to achieve sustainable success," said John Paluszek, Chair of the Global Alliance.

Delegates to the Forum interacted with a long list of visionary speakers, with a capstone address by Dr. Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum.

"Public relations have become even more crucial in this new situation, provided global and other issues are addressed in the framework of the common interest of all stakeholders," Dr. Schwab said.

Other guest speakers included Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt; Global Reporting Initiative chair Mervyn King; Bjorn Edlund, former vice president of communications at Royal Dutch Shell; social media expert Brian Solis; and Peje Emilsson, executive chairman of Kreab Gavin Anderson.
