Global Alliance publishes new study on public relations practice in Spain

March 21, 2014

The dynamic Spanish Public Relations industry under scrutiny in this new PR Country Landscape study

Lugano, Switzerland, March 21, 2014 – The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management published today a new study on the state of public relations in Spain, the country hosting the 8th World Public Relations Forum. This 26th study supplements the “PR Country Landscapes” series, a popular program which provides context for PR practice on a country-by-country basis by summarizing  a nation’s political, economic and cultural systems.

This newly published study provides a comprehensive overview of the current vibrant public relations industry in Spain, a country where opportunities for public relations and communication professionals are on the rise. Despite the growing number of people entering this industry, however, Spanish practitioners keep struggling to make the business world accurately recognize the high value of public relations as a management function.

“The PR Country Landscape are one of the Global Alliance key projects aimed at serving our profession. We know these studies are highly appreciated and used within the international professional community because they are one of the most downloaded documents from our website” said Anne Gregory, Global Alliance Chair. “This new study gives valuable insights on public relations practice in the country which is hosting the 2014 World Public Relations Forum later this year (September 21-23, Madrid). The practice in Spain is highly sophisticated and this Landscape and the Forum will be a great opportunity for delegates from all over the world not only to join the discussion on “Communication with conscience”, the event theme, but also to have direct contact with Spanish colleagues.”

“It is very useful to handle a report which gives us a wide picture about the PR industry in our country, from its history to its organization. The landscape series by the Global Alliance helps us better understand the background and environment of our profession. Knowledge is always the first step for development and improvement, especially when you are managing information, relationships and behaviors” said José Manuel Velasco, President of Dircom, the Spanish association of communication directors.

Anne Gregory expressed thanks to the authors of the report led by Dr. Judy VanSlyke Turk and to Dr. Juan-Carlos Molleda and his colleagues at the University of Florida for their leadership of the Global Alliance’s Landscapes project.
