Global Alliance recognizes outgoing chair Daniel Tisch. 2011-2012 Melbourne Mandate a landmark for global profession

July 1, 2013

LUGANO, Switzerland, July 1st, 2013 – The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management today recognizes Chair Daniel Tisch, whose term of office ends today, July 1st.

“The Global Alliance has an impact and profile that is double what is was two years ago,” said  incoming Global Alliance chair Anne Gregory as she took office today. “Dan has visited 24 countries in the last two years, working constantly to build the global public relations profession in conjunction with our member associations. We are now truly an Alliance with global reach and our members look to us to represent them on the global stage as we are becoming more involved in securing the place of our the profession in major work initiatives such as the International Integrated Reporting Framework. He has been an example of what drive and leadership can bring to the international community.”

Tisch’s contributions were built on a record of achievement and contribution to the profession, including being a Fellow of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS), a winner of more than 150 awards from CPRS and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), and president of Argyle Communications, one of Canada’s largest and most respected independent PR firms. Before becoming GA chair, he chaired the Sustainability Working Group of the Stockholm Accords, which are now embedded in the curricula of recognized courses in public relations. He also chaired the development of the GA’s 2009-2014 strategic plan and created clear, transparent criteria and consistent branding for the GA’s signature event, the World Public Relations Forum.

Tisch will be known best for his vision for and delivery of the Melbourne Mandate at the World Public Relations Forum in Melbourne 2012: a true landmark for the global profession that earned widespread consensus and acclaim from practitioners and academics around the world. He is also playing a leading role in planning for the next Forum in Madrid on September 21-23, 2014, and serves on the International Integrated Reporting Council’s working group.

Commenting on his two years in office, Daniel Tisch said: “It’s been an extraordinary privilege to work with professionals on every continent to raise standards, share knowledge, strengthen our global professional community and be a voice for public relations in the public interest. The Global Alliance mission is more relevant than ever – and I am grateful to continue working with Anne and our exceptional board, staff and members around the world on our profession’s global journey.”

Tisch will remain on the Executive Committee and Board of the Global Alliance for another two years as Immediate Past Chair. Says Gregory: “I am so pleased Dan will be there with his wisdom and experience to back us as we move forward, building on his great work. We have the next World Public Relations Forum in Madrid next year with the theme Communication with conscience, from which we will again produce thought leadership for the profession. A major contribution to this will be the inaugural Global GAP Study, which will be a global resource informing how the profession should develop into the next decade.”
