Global Alliance Represented at the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF)
The GA's (Asia) role was as a partner with the Muslim Council of Britain, Business and Economics Committee for a Thought Leadership Workshops held at the Institute of Islamic Thought & Civilization, International Islamic University of Malaysia, KL Campus.
The event was officiated by the Chief Secretary to the Malaysian Government, YBhg. Tan Sri Mohamed Sidek Hassan. The other VIPs were the UK High Commissiioner to Malaysia, HE Boyd McCleary, Sir Iqbal Sacranie, the Founding Sec Gen of the Muslim Council of Britain and Mr Arif Zaman, the Vice Chairman of the Business & Economics Committee of the Muslim Council of Britain.
The workshops covered a session on Branding, Commercial innovation and Social Entrepreneurship for the OIC; Leadership Challenges and Opportunities and Business Ethics and Islamic Corporate Social responsisibility - smoke screen or substance.
GA (Asia) Board member, Shameem Abdul Jalil (Far Left in Picture), spoke on PR Leadership Challenges and Opportunities at which GA and its missions were presented. She emphasized the need to use effective Public relations within the OIC as one possible way to reach their goals and achieve their missions more successfully. She reminded that Effective PR would also help to unite the Muslim Ummah and create greater understanding among Muslims of different sects and bring harmony and understanding in our relationship with all of the world communities. She also echoed GA Chair, John Paluszek on the need for everyone to learn from one another and promote world peace and harmony.
There were about 200 attendees with majority coming from the UK, USA, Spain, Turkey and Malaysia.
The Workshop was officially closed by the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development .
