Global Alliance welcomes applications for Executive Board members

The open Board positions include

Chair
Chair-Elect

Treasurer (replacement for current vacancy)

All seats are for a two-year term where board members are expected to take on specific files and tasks connected to their position, participate at several telephone meetings and, occasionally, attend face-to-face meetings including the Annual General Meetings .

Who is eligible?
Any individual member of societies/institutes classified as Global Alliance Full Members (national organisations). Their organisation's leadership must nominate these individuals. This is normally done following posting of the opportunity within the organisation.

What kind of work is involved?
Besides participating in the meetings and following the issues in the GA agenda, there are specific functions associated with each of the available seats and other files as assigned by the Board. It is generally expected that nominating organisations will have given consideration for financial support of their candidates in the conduct of GA board duties.

Chair-Elect
Works in close cooperation with the Chair to advance the strategic plan of the Global Alliance
Ensures continuity of current projects and business of the Global Alliance
Takes part in the Executive Board telephone meetings and is expected to attend face-to-face meetings without any expectation of support from the GA.
Represents the Global Alliance at events in his/hers region

Treasurer
Participates in and proposes the GA annual budget
Monitors the expenditures in relation to the budget
Prepares and presents a Treasurer's Report before the General Assembly
Takes part in the Executive Board telephone meetings and attends face-to-face meetings.
Represents the Global Alliance at events in his/hers region

About the Desired Profile & Qualifications
Knowledge of global affairs and cultures
Knowledge of GA strategic plan
Experience with leading work groups, boards and committees
Diplomacy
Ability to travel. There is at least one meeting (maximum two meetings a year)
Ability to participate in monthly conference calls
Ability to devote time on a daily basis to assigned files
Ability to recruit other volunteers to get things done
Contacts around the world if helpful
Ability to absorb travel costs
Ability to speak in public
Passion for the profession!
