Life-long learning: The GA offers four scholarships for a high-level, mid-career MS in communication management

September 4, 2012

Through the strategic partnership with the USI Università della Svizzera italiana, the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management each year provides four scholarships to the Executive Master of Science in Communications Management’s (EMScom) applicants living and working outside of Switzerland.

The Executive Master of Science in Communications Management (EMScom) is a part-time, postgraduate program for experienced communications professionals. One of the first programs of its kind in Europe, EMScom was founded in 1998 at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in Lugano, Switzerland. The program cooperates with the UCLA Anderson School of Management and is held in conjunction with Singapore Management University giving participants a unique opportunity to study side by side with Asian colleagues. EMScom’s professors are recognized experts at leading universities around the world. Sessions take place every other month and are easily combined with the demands of a career. Seminars are held in English.

The Global Alliance scholarships, based on financial need, are available to applicants who do not receive any support from their employer in funding their participation in the Executive Master of Science in Communications Management education.

Each scholarship totals CHF 26,000, half of the tuition for EMScom beginning in March 2013, and the deadline to submit the scholarship application is November 30, 2012.The Global Alliance Board  will be responsible to select the candidates from the pool of scholarship applicants.

In order to apply, candidates need to follow these three steps:

  1. Candidates first need to apply to the Executive MScom ( before they apply for the GA scholarship. The EMScom application deadline is January 15, 2013 – but the program works on a rolling admission policy, so please make sure that you are admitted to the EMScom (non-binding) before November 30, 2012.

  1. The GA scholarship application needs to be sent electronically and in hard copy to the Global Alliance by November 30, 2012 at the latest. The candidate might be convoked for an interview by one Global Alliance Board member.

The scholarships are part of the Global Alliance's commitment to educational programs which support its institutional goals. "As communication becomes an increasingly global profession, the Global Alliance aims to support promising communicators who seek both international education and a global network,” said Daniel Tisch, Chairman of the Global Alliance. "Serving the strategic goals of the Global Alliance, the scholarship enables four participants to benefit from USI Università della Svizzera italiana’s renowned international Executive Master of Science in Communications Management and its multinational faculty. We hope these scholars will help us advance the communications profession through involvement in our professional community in the years to come.”
