The Middle East Public Relations Association (MEPRA) is a “not-for-profit” professional association based in the UAE. It was founded in 2001 to represent the interests of PR practitioners working in the region. MEPRA endeavours to highlight the strategic role of public relations and help set high standards for quality and ethical conduct by all practitioners. In 2009 MEPRA changed its charter from being an agency-led to an individual-based organisation open to any practitioner of public relations or a related field with at least one year of PR experience. Agencies are represented via membership of the Registered Agency Group. MEPRA has over 370 individual members and 33 registered agencies with members in the KSA, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan and the UAE.
About the Awards:
Awards achieve a number of goals: Peer recognition; professional credibility; a benchmark for regional performance; personal and team motivation; and by acknowledging excellence in best practice leads to improved work standards.
There were 10 best practice categories to enter and a campaign could be submitted more than once although the submission had to be tailored to that specific category. Entrants were provided with guidelines and clear entry criteria and had two months to submit their campaigns.
