PERU: PRSA certifies Universidad de San Martín de Porres for its academic excellence in Public Relations
USMP is the only Peruvian university and the third one in Latin America holding this certification.
After a thorough process of assessment, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) -the largest and most important international accrediting institution in its category-, approved by general agreement to grant the Certification of Education for Public Relations (CEPR) to Universidad de San Martín de Porres in recognition of the academic excellence obtained by the program of Public Relations.
Universidad de San Martín de Porres becomes the third Latin American university holding the CEPR. Around 60 educational institutions of the United States, Canada, Europe and New Zealand have already been accredited, which contributes to enlarge the possibilities of development and integration among the members of the Public Relations Society of America.
It was during the annual assembly in Philadelphia, USA, in the presence of 1.500 professional affiliates: leadership of international companies with communications and public relations divisions, academics, researchers of the field and communication means invited from more than 21 countries.
The certification was granted by Dr. Susan Gonders and Dr. Judy Phair, who headed the division of PRSA Academic Affairs. They highlighted the flawless task developed by Universidad de San Martín de Porres during the process of evaluation to obtain the international certification, but above all they stood out the quality of the study program, the suitability of the professors, students, graduates and the leadership, as well as the unbeatable facilities, among other aspects. They specified the USMP to be a role model for other academic institutions in the world aimed at the compliance of the global standards of academic excellence in Public Relations education.
The Certification of Education for Public Relations from PRSA not only reaffirms the quality of the discipline offered by the USMP –pioneer in the field of communications in Latin America-, but also opens the door to a universe of continuous options and challenges for students and professors who will be able to obtain scholarships and awards, and access to exchanging academic programs and joint researches in this ample worldwide net that links more than thirty thousand affiliates in the world. It will also assist the employability of our graduates and the validation of their professional degrees in the world.
This accreditation reinforces the commitment of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Tourism and Psychology from the USMP to the international community on the training of professionals who found their practice on scientific research, strategic planning, execution and assessment, committed to the ethical behavior and the search of academic excellence in Public Relations.
