Portuguese Association of Corporate Communication (APCE) appoints new President, Eduardo Guedes de Oliveira

President Eduardo Guedes de Oliveira has been appointed President of the Portuguese Association of Corporate Communication. Previous President, Mario Branco, recently finished his term running the organisation.

 

APCE is an independent, non-profit organisation that represents, and advocates for, the interests of its members, particularly those in organizational communication and public relations. It serves as a forum for discussion and reflection and is open to all interested in communication, whether in business or the field of education.

 

In an official statement, Branco said he felt the serenity of accomplishments made during his two terms in office. Branco felt privileged for the trust placed in him and was thankful for the support of his colleagues and governing bodies during his time as President.

 

Through challenging years, Branco and his colleagues revitalised APCE from July 2006. APCE had been in poor condition and had to overcome resistance, pay debts, rebuild its network, obtain support and validate its existence.

 

Through an ambitious turnaround strategy, APCE started with commitment to growth in qualifications and professional development, recognizing and sharing best practices, and interactive networks (professional and social) for both local and global peers, with a firm purpose of creating value for members.

 

This positioning resulted in new ethical values established in a Code of Conduct. It set the foundations for professional accreditation, such as the Grand Prize for Excellence in Communication, the election of Communicator of the Year, master classes, forums, conferences and workshops with academic leaders and communicators.

 

Today APCE has increased its membership and is strongly aligned with the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management and the Federation of European Internal Communication Associations. APCE is a reference partner for academics and universities in the field of organizational communication and public relations.

 

In an official statement, Oliveira said he will strive to bring professionals in the world of Portuguese business communication together. APCE’s new management team is responding to an era of 'crossroads of knowledge' that is structured around 'new knowledge', 'new media' and the new behaviours of communicators.

 

Oliveira said APCE is committed to the future of communicators and communication students who wish to establish a new vision about the global communication processes. The organization will work to build trust in activities conducted by media professionals, to strengthen the support and development of this area and to broaden the stage for exchange of ideas and experiences.
