PR Newswire and Global Alliance Sign Partnership Agreement

October 17, 2013

Lugano, Switzerland and London, United Kingdom, October 17 2013 - Two pioneering global PR organizations have joined forces in a partnership deal designed to bring mutual benefit and help keep PR practitioners at the forefront of their industry.

The deal brings together PR Newswire, the leading global provider of PR and corporate communication tools with its European head office in London, and the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, the confederation of the world’s major PR and communication management institutions with over 160’000 members across Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia, Africa and Oceania.

The Global Alliance’s partnership arrangement with PR Newswire is the latest in a line of strategic and supporting partnerships put in place by the organisation. It is a natural alliance between a global organisation representing practitioners around the world and an international news distribution organisation with global reach, both seeking to bring mutual benefit and to serve the professional public relations community worldwide.

Global Alliance was officially formed in 2002 to share knowledge and raise the professional standards of the public relations profession all over the world.  .Since its inception, the Global Alliance has conducted successful initiatives such as , the adoption of the Melbourne Mandate, a call to action of new areas of value for public relations and communication management endorsed by 800 delegates from 30 countries at the 2012 World Public Relations Forum in Melbourne and the launch of the Global Survey, the world’s first ongoing global study of public relations and communication management practice based on the longstanding GAP study. The World Public Relations Forum is the signature program of the Global Alliance where public relations and communication professionals from around the world gather to examine major issues affecting, and affected by, the profession. The Eighth World Public Relations Forum will be held in Madrid, Spain, on September 21-23 2014, hosted by Dircom, the Spanish association of communication directors, with the theme “Communication with conscience”.

PR Newswire, part of UBM plc, has been a major player in communications technology and the news distribution industry for nearly 60 years.  It provides its clients with end-to-end solutions that encompass traditional, digital and social media outlets.  Distributing, optimising and targeting content across the world’s largest multi-channel distribution network, PR Newswire has a truly global reach, serving clients across EMEA, India, Americas and Asia-Pacific.

Lisa Ashworth President of PR Newswire Europe & India said “We’re delighted to officially form a partnership with Global Alliance, which we hope will bring benefits not only to their members but also to our existing clients as we share best practice.”

Anne Gregory, Global Alliance Chair, said: “Global Alliance and PR Newswire are closely aligned in the goal of driving up standards within the PR industry and being at the forefront of industry developments.  We are therefore looking forward to working together.”
