The Public Relations Institute of Australia announces insights into the 2013 National Conference

April 16, 2013

The PRIA is delighted to announce details of the eagerly awaited national conference taking place over three days from 17-19, November 2013 at the Adelaide Convention Centre, South Australia. The PRIA hope to build on last year’s successful World PR Forum which took place in Melbourne in conjunction with the Global Alliance, which was the biggest World PR Forum held to date.

Last November saw almost 1,000 delegates attend the event with almost 200 delegates coming from overseas. It also saw the signing of a friendship agreement between PERHUMAS (Public Relations Association of Indonesia) and the PRIA as well as some stellar speakers such as Richard Edelman via a live link. The relationships built last year are only the beginning and we need to leverage the work that was done on the Melbourne Mandate and also continue its impact on our industry.

It has been a very busy year for the PRIA and 2013 has seen some great progression in our organisation. It has seen the appointment of a new National President, Terri-Helen Gaynor as well as a new Interim CEO, Catriona Barry.

This year’s conference will be in Adelaide and is the largest and most comprehensive event for public relations and corporate communication professionals in the region. It attracts 350+ public relations and communication practitioners from across Australia, Asia Pacific region and further enabling the best minds to get together to debate best practice, exchange ideas and network with their industry peers.

The conference will focus on a range of PR and communication topics this year. Individual sessions will address, amongst others, the following areas:

  • Social Media Engagement – Changing face of media

  • Leaders from Business, Government and Not for Profit

  • Register Consultancy Groups – Professional development for agencies on consultancy and staffing issues
