Public Relations Society of America set for strategic planning year as new leaders pledge to serve in today’s evolving environment
In October 2012, during the PRSA International Conference in San Francisco, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA)’s Leadership Assembly elected new leadership to advise the organization as it heads into a new strategic planning year.
The Leadership Assembly, which includes approximately 300 delegates who represent PRSA’s Districts, Chapters, Sections and student society elected MWW Senior Vice President Joseph E. Cohen, APR, chair of the organization for 2014.
“Now is a time of profound change within the public relations industry, and in this rapidly evolving media environment, the opportunity to advance the profession has never been greater,” said Cohen. “I’m proud and humbled to lead PRSA during 2014, and deeply honored to serve an organization that has given so much to me and that fulfills such an important role within our profession. It sets standards of ethical conduct and also provides a community where practitioners from across the industry can network, share best practices and sharpen their professional skills.”
Cohen will follow the 2013 chair and chief executive officer, Mickey Nall, APR, Fellow PRSA, managing director at Ogilvy Public Relations in Atlanta. With Nall’s agency background in handling prominent clients, he believes he will make the experience for PRSA members a rewarding one this year.
