The Stockholm Accords
The GA formally approved the Stockholm Accords at its 2010 Stockholm World Public Relations Forum. The Stockholm Accords reflect the importance of Public Relations and Communication Management in contemporary society. The “Accords” document provides practitioners with a framework that can be presented within their organizations and beyond, highlighting what they do – or what they should be empowered to do – as a significant contribution to organizational success.
The final text was endorsed after months of development, involving about 1,000 professionals in various virtual spaces around the world, and during the interactive deliberations at the Stockholm WPRF. Participants came to Stockholm from all segments of the profession – including practitioners, academics, internal and external communicators, and students. The discussion has been genuinely global, and adaptation of the “Accords” continues in many countries.
