China International PR Association Celebrates 30th Anniversary

In an unusually modest setting, the 30th anniversary celebrations of the "Chinese International Public Relations Association" (CIPRA) took place in Beijing on 6 January 2022. The worldwide pandemic had forced the organisers to hold an "online-offline event" in accordance with the requirements of epidemic prevention and control. Thus, neither international experts nor representatives of foreign PR associations were able to travel to the Land of the Middle and had to deliver their greetings via internet video.

Representing the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, Silvia Arto from France, Vice President of Global Alliance and Chair of the European Regional Council, and Council member Christina Kahlert, who is also a China expert and co-organiser of the European Communications Convention ECC, offered their congratulations. Global Alliance is the association of the largest PR and communications management associations and institutions, representing over 320,000 practitioners and academics around the world. Former CERP President Thomas Achelis, who has been cooperating with his CIPRA colleagues for almost 20 years, also sent his greetings online and invited his Chinese colleagues to visit Germany again.

Despite the Corona restrictions, a number of CIPRA members and personalities from politics and business took part in the event in Beijing. In addition to technical lectures and presentations, the focus was on the presentation of the "Outstanding Contribution Award" on the occasion of the 30th anniversary. This was given to member organisations and individuals who have made a significant contribution to CIPRA's development.

CIPRA is a nationwide PR professional organisation with special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC). The organisation with the status of a legal association of the Chinese government has its headquarters in Beijing. It has repeatedly been awarded the title of "National Advanced Social Organisation" by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The current President is Li Daoyu, the former Ambassador of the PRC to the United States.
