PRAU Hosts Global Alliance Leadership to Strengthen Public Relations Collaboration

The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) recently hosted Justin Green, President and CEO of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, in a strategic meeting aimed at advancing public relations in Uganda.

The discussions brought together PRAU leadership, including Tina Wamala, President of PRAU; Stephen Mwanga, Immediate Past President of PRAU; and Roland Seruyima, Assistant Administrator of PRAU.

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on Friday, January 10, 2025, signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) to regulate the Integrated Marketing Communications Ecosystem in Nigeria.

The agreement is to enable a more purposeful ecosystem that will promote effective business ethics, strengthen viable corporate practice, and create a robust regulatory framework to facilitate sustainable growth and development in Nigeria.

NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, described the tripartite collaboration, which includes the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) as historic, marking the first time three national regulatory bodies are coming together to synergise for an efficient communications industry.

The Global Alliance is pleased to announce that it has received several bids to host the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026.

To assess the bids, the Global Alliance board has appointed a committee comprising:

• Boy Kelana Soebroto, Chairman of Perhumas Indonesia Public Relations Association and host of WPRF 2024 in Bali, Indonesia.

• Amith Prabhu, Co-founder of Promise Foundation and host of WPRF 2023 in Chennai, India.

• Fiona Cassidy, Former Chair of PRINZ (Public Relations Institute of New Zealand) and awarded host of WPRF 2020 in Auckland, New Zealand.

For clarity, submitted bids may be updated or amended until 24th January 2025. No further bids will be accepted.

Vice President of the Republic of Zambia Mrs. W.K. Mutale -Nalumango, MP, has been conferred with the honorary title of Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communication (ZIPRC) Fellow, in recognition of her leadership and instrumental role leading to the enactment of the ZIPRC Act No. 11 of 2022.
The accolade was bestowed during the ZIPRC End-of-Year Gala Dinner held at the Urban Hotel in Lusaka. The event brought together industry leaders, public relations professionals, and government representatives to celebrate excellence in communication and public relations.

You may submit a nomination by identifying a potential leader from your member organization or region who meets the eligibility requirements given below and has both the skill and the passion to move forward and support our profession.

Candidates for the following positions on the Global Alliance Executive Board are to be elected at the 2025 Global Alliance Annual General Meeting to be scheduled.

The Global Alliance board of directors invites all Global Alliance Members to make a bid for the site of World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026 – 13th Edition.

The Global Alliance’s signature program, virtually from the organisation’s inception, has been its biennial assembly of public relations and communication professionals from around the world who meet to examine major issues affecting the profession and affected by the profession.

This flagship event combines the Global Alliance’s meeting (in conjunction with a 1-day workshop for association leaders, 1-day workshop for universities and 2-days of Global Alliance board meeting) with a full 3 day Forum (1 day of Research Colloquium and 2 days of Business Program) hosted by a member organisation. The Global Alliance and the host organisation work in close partnership.

During the Indonesia Young Public Relations Gathering 2024, held on the final day of the WPRF 2024, Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Arya Mangkunegoro X, the leader of the Mangkunegaran Kingdom in Surakarta, Indonesia, delivered a speech on "Purposeful Social Change Through Culture."

The theme of collective responsibility was echoed by Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Arya Mangkunegoro X, leader of the Mangkunegaran Kingdom in Surakarta, Indonesia, who spoke passionately about the role of culture in shaping the future. “Culture evolves,” he said. “It becomes a part of daily life and needs to align with the context of its era to remain relevant.” The Mangkunegaran Kingdom’s “culturefuture” initiative offers a blueprint for integrating tradition with innovation. It encompasses mental health, education, environmental sustainability, and the arts, demonstrating that culture is not a relic but a dynamic force for progress.
