Global Conversation on Diversity and Inclusion Extended Through July
The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management will extend its Diversity and Inclusion Month into July in the interest of continuing an important and timely conversation. This decision follows on from the pivotal events in June that have united people around the globe, and demonstrated the importance of communicating the impacts of these events to society, to business and to government. Now more than ever, PR and communications is being recognized as the strategic function and organizational conscience it is, and professionals at this time need additional support as they work to help organizations navigate the important and often fraught conversations and actions around diversity and inclusion.
“Almost overnight, communications professionals around the world have been thrust into action in support of diversity and inclusion efforts amid the global pandemic that continues to impact us all – making the need for timely access to relevant resources even stronger,” says Global Alliance Ethics & Standards Director, Sarah Hanel. “I encourage all of our members and the 280,000 practitioners and academics that belong to Global Alliance member associations to contribute to the discussion and help support all professionals worldwide as well as benefit from the free resources and access to expertise available as part of this month.”
Diversity and Inclusion Month activities, identified with the hashtag #DiversityMatters and #InclusionMatters on Twitter, are the world’s largest-scale conversation and offering of free D&I resources to the PR community. With the extension into July, additional activities will include two panel discussions on building and communicating D&I strategies, a tweet chat with experienced D&I communications professionals, and an ask-the-expert Q&A session on social media. Follow @Global_Alliance on Twitter to join in the conversation and benefit from the shared resources.
Best Regards,
