Invitation to Create Public Relations History Together
World’s First Online History of Public Relations
Ensure Your History is Captured
30th November 2022
Dear Member of Global Alliance,
The Museum of Public Relations, NYC, USA, is thrilled to announce it has joined Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management as both a member and strategic partner.
We’ve made this decision based on the Global Alliance’s excellent record and professionalism in supporting education, training, life development, and best practices in nations around the world. The profession of Public Relations is in a much better place today, thanks in large part to Global Alliance’s important work and leadership. The Museum is proud to become a partner and support Global Alliance’s work, on the occasion of its 30th anniversary.
As a way of celebrating this important milestone, we have partnered with Global Alliance, to create the world's first online history of the field of Public Relations.
In what we expect will be an important resource for students, academics, and professionals alike, we envision a compilation of histories from each of the member nation and organisation around the world, to be hosted by the Museum of Public Relations and Global Alliance.
“It is fitting that we today launch this historic initiative during world ‘Student and Young Practitioner Month’ as they are the future and play a pivotal role in the future of our Public Relations history" stated Global Alliance´s President and CEO, Justin Green.
We’re now inviting each Global Alliance member’s president, chairperson, or appointed representative from their organisation to submit the following:
01. An essay of approximately 1,000–1,500 words.
02. Please include at least two to three historic images, illustrations, photos or some other graphic that tells the story of the evolution of the field in your nation.
03. Please credit name of author, position held, organisation and country. This will be credited as a short history by name (personal view/history).
04. Deadline for these submissions is 31st January 2023.
For context, in addition to chronicling the growth of Public Relations as a profession, you are also invited to write about grassroots social movements which employed PR/Communications strategies to achieve positive results for citizens (we call that “public relations for the public good”). You are also welcome to discuss the growth of home-grown agencies, corporate communications departments, non-profit organizations, and government PR. And of course, please cover the growth of PR as an area of study within your nation’s colleges and universities.
Please submit your essay and supporting material to:
Mateus Furlanetto — cao@globalalliancepr.org, and
Shelley Spector — shelleyspector@prmuseum.org.
We are thrilled to be working with you and look very much forward to receiving your own history of Public Relations from wherever you are in the world.
All the best for a wonderful Holiday Season.
Shelley Spector
