The future of the PR industry looks bright and promising

‘Student & Young Practitioner Month’ celebration ends with The Museum of Public Relations joining Global Alliance as partner

“In spite of the challenges brought about by the global pandemic, the future of the PR profession remains bright and promising,” beamed Ana Pista, Board Member of Global Alliance, President and CEO of Ardent Communications and also the chairman of this year’s Student and Young Practitioner Month.

According to Pista, this was the general consensus reached by organizers of the highly successful global staging of “Student and Young Practitioner Month,” which featured world-class speakers from academe and the industry sharing their experiences while working in PR-related fields and giving event participants relevant and timely tips about choosing a career in Public Relations.

The annual festivity, which forms part of Global Alliance’s KNow Movement campaign, had aimed to further stir the hearts and minds of students and young practitioners looking to join the ranks  of PR professionals in the future. It gave young practitioners access to activities to help expand their knowledge while providing them with an avenue to develop a greater appreciation of PR and the professions related to it. The students, meanwhile, were made to understand the vital role they’ll play once they join the industry.

Justin Green, president of Global Alliance for Public Relations & Communication Management, kicked off the celebration with a visit to various countries in Asia.

He first went to Indonesia on November 4 to give a lecture to various PR associations in the country together with delegates from the ASEAN Public Relations Network (APRN). The visit was followed by another lecture forum on Nov. 5, this time with the undergraduate and postgraduate students taking up Public Relations and marketing communications at the LSPR Institute of Communication and Business. The forum highlighted the importance of learning public relations because it is a vital component of all lines of business and even personal branding.

His next stop was Malaysia last Nov. 9 to attend the Kuala Lumpur International PR Conference (KLIP) 2023. The conference was anchored on equipping the PR and communication industry with global trends, PR issues, ESG thrust, digital play, brand trust, and leadership reboot. Green was joined by his colleagues at Global Alliance as resource speakers at this conference. They also gave a lecture to students of the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) after the conference.

On November 11, 2022, Green also went to Vietnam, where the Vietnamese Public Relations Network (VNPR) hosted the Global Alliance’s visit. VNPR was the first association to join the Global Alliance, while UEH University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City was the first university to become a member of the alliance.

Justin Green also visited the campus of UEH University and gave a lecture to students from the School of Media Design about country branding and the use of endorsements by influencers by global brands. Global Alliance and VNPR delegates visited Thanh Nien, the largest media group in Vietnam.

The last activity was Justin Green and Mateus Furlanetto delivering a lecture to members of VNPR about trends and insights in PR around the world. At the end of the event, Green received the Life Honorary Fellowship from VNPR.
Silvia Arto and Angel Alloza participated to the French school ISCOM “Grand Forum de la Communication” the 25th November 2021. A 100% digital meeting of communication actors which in gathered all ISCOM campuses: Paris, Lille, Lyon, Montpellier, Rouen, Strasbourg, Toulouse and Bordeaux.

Angel Alloza, CEO of the Corporate Excellence Center, presented the Approaching the Future 2022 report and Silvia Arto, GA VC and chair of the ERC, focused on 5 global trends selected from this report and other Global Trends.

Silvia Arto also published an article regarding the impact of these global trends on the Communication industry.

The month-long celebration culminated with a series of live streaming sessions that aired simultaneously across the different regions where Global Alliance has presence in: Africa, Asia- Pacific, Europe, North America, Latin America, and Middle East-South Asia.

The first live streaming session, a career-orientation type of seminar dubbed “Career World,” was held last November 28 and had Peter Mutie from Africa, Fiona Cassidy from New Zealand, Tomas Dardet from Puerto Rico, and Mandy Pearse from the UK giving the student-participants a piece of their mind when it comes to choosing a career.

In the ensuing panel discussion session, Jaffri Amin Osman from Malaysia ably moderated the Q&A that followed, and all the speakers agreed that in spite of regional differences, PR work shall remain a much-needed profession in whatever industry, especially post-pandemic.

The second live streaming session, dubbed “Jobs World” was held last November 29 and featured Jose Manuel Velasco from Spain, Irene Chipili from Zambia, Roksana Obuchowska from Poland, Peter Mutie from Africa, and Hemant Gaule from India as resource speakers.

As a fitting end to the celebration, the Museum of Public Relations in New York City, USA, also forged a partnership with Global Alliance today -- both as a member and a strategic partner. The museum recognized Global Alliance’s excellent record and professionalism in supporting education, training, life development, and best practices in nations around the world.

As a way of celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Museum also partnered with Global Alliance for the creation of the world’s first online history of the field of public relations.

Ms. Pista said that it is Global Alliance’s commitment to continue with this endeavor for the benefit of students and the future generation of leaders of the industry.

“Our purpose, really, in coming up with this month’s celebration is to assure and ensure that the future of the PR industry worldwide would continue to be bright and promising,” adds Pista.
