Global Alliance Updates Responsible AI Guiding Principles for the PR and Communication Profession
Venice Pledge Reaffirms Global Commitment to Ethical, Human-Centered AI Practices
The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management is proud to announce the updated Responsible AI Guiding Principles for the PR and Communication Profession, officially ratified by its Board of Directors in June 2025.
These revised principles are the result of a collaborative AI Symposium Workshop Session held in Venice, Italy, hosted by the Global Alliance’s European Regional Council in partnership with FERPI – Italian Federation of Public Relations, as part of the Global Alliance’s Technology, Trends, and Communication Transformation Month in May 2025.
This milestone gathering brought together communication leaders from across the globe to reaffirm their collective commitment to ethical AI practices by signing the Venice Pledge—a shared promise to integrate Responsible AI into the daily practice of public relations and communication.
The Global Alliance defines Responsible AI as the ethical, transparent, and human-centred development and application of artificial intelligence, strategically deployed to support—not replace—human judgment, creativity, and communication. It emphasises accountability, fairness, and accuracy, while minimising bias, misinformation, and harm. Responsible AI upholds privacy and data protection, reflects professional and organisational values, and ensures proper attribution, governance, and human oversight to maintain trust, integrity, and societal well-being.
