It is with great sadness that I heard our colleague and Global Alliance former board member in the years 2013 to 2015, Judy VanSlyke Turk, Ph.D., APR, Fellow PRSA, passed away in Richmond, Virginia (USA) on Sunday 2nd May 2021. Dr. Turk, former director of the School of Mass Communication and professor emerita of Virginia Commonwealth University (USA) was global inspiration catalyst and beacon of the public relations profession, an exemplary educator, author, editor and researcher.

Global Alliance has successfully delivered insightful and compelling content programs from over 100 presentations from PR experts around the world to over 40,000 people from across Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, India Middle-East, Latin America, and North American, including extended programs in both China and Russia.

The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management 19th Annual General Meeting was held on Sunday 2nd May remotely due to Covid-19 restrictions regarding travel and public gathering. A candle was lit by the Secretary of the AGM Paula Portugal Mendes in solidarity with all those who have lost their lives globally to Covid-19, to pay a special AGM tribute of our frontline workers, the real heroes of our health services, care workers and scientists and indeed to acknowledge our own profession’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After over two years of intense research led by Dr. Ángel Alloza and Dr. Clara Fontán at Corporate Excellence, Centre for Reputation Leadership (Spain), the model was created with the collaborative and participatory contributions of a network of 1,400 professionals in 47 countries, this consensus-based approach makes it possible for the model to have worldwide and cross-cultural validity. Since it was released, it has received widespread global critical acclaim.
