Top PR experts from Africa elected in Global Alliance Board
The Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management (GA) 21st Annual General Meeting was held on Monday 15th May in Lusaka, Zambia, during which the board members were elected to lead Global Alliance for the next two years. During the meeting, four leading PR professionals were elected to the board. Irene Lungu Chipili from Zambia, Peter Mutie of Kenya, Wole Ademolukun from Nigeria and Rene Dailen Benecke from South Africa were elected to the board. Mr. Justin Green from Ireland was re-elected as the President for a third two-year term.
The general meeting took place during the Africa Public Relations Association (APRA) annual conference taking place in Lusaka, Zambia. Ms Chipili, who is the president of Zambia Institute of Public Relations and Communication made history becoming the first woman and PR professional from Zambia to join this global board.
While addressing the opening session of the APRA conference, the president of Global Alliance, Mr. Justin Green congratulated the two leading PR professionals, saying that Africa is playing a leading role in advancing the PR Profession. He cited the case of Zambia that has instituted PR through an Act of Parliament that is now regulating the practice in the country.
Peter Mutie, a communication specialist and the chief executive officer of Peterson Integrated communication is serving his second term in the board, having first been elected in 2020. He is the current chairperson of the Africa Regional Council of the Global Alliance and the chairman of the college of fellows in Kenya.
